NAB 2008: Panasonic's new AVCCAM camera to capture to SDHC cards

By David Basulto

Ok this is getting ridiculous. As content is getting better and higher resolutions are becoming the norm, things are going the other way in terms of the media that content is captured to. The media that captures all of the HD glory is getting smaller. How is this so? In any case I love not having to carry tapes or huge drives.

Panasonic, always on the cutting edge, unveiled its new AG HMC 70 camera at this year s show. The HD camera shoots 1080 to an SD card. Panasonic's Robert Harris took me through the process and discusses its AVCCAM format. The format is opposite the HDV format and Panasonic boasts '"it is much better."

Innovations were abundant at the show. Panasonic surely had theirs on display. Enjoy.
